In Nicaraguan oral folklore, on quiet nights when the city streets empty and the country roads turn pitch black, you hear her long before you see her. A sharp, rhythmic, thunderous strike echoing against colonial stone walls and open fields: tac... tac... tac... The footsteps of La Taconuda.

Folklore describes her as an imposing, tall, and elegant woman walking alone through the dark wearing tall high heels (tacones). Her footsteps ring with an uncanny, hypnotic resonance—so loud, clear, and commanding that they pierce the nocturnal silence and mesmerize anyone within earshot. Night wanderers follow the reverberant rhythm down dark cobblestone avenues, drawn by the sound, only to be overtaken by a towering spectral presence that vanishes into thin air, leaving behind an indelible echo ringing in their ears.

Why We Named This Plugin After Her

A plate reverb is triggered by a sudden mechanical pulse: an electrical transducer strikes the plate, and an explosive wavefield erupts through sheet metal. The strike of a heel on stone is the ultimate real-world acoustic impulse—an ultra-fast transient followed by huge, dense, shimmering metallic reflections that completely take over the acoustic space.

When we engineered a physical modeling plate capable of scaling from delicate thin sheets to gargantuan, colossal metal slabs, we named it La Taconuda. Bold, imposing, and sonically unstoppable. The plugin delivers that same commanding transient attack and massive, lingering plate sustain that commands whatever mix or sound design track it touches.
